11th Mar 2025TUESDAY 11th March
A pleasant, dry and sunny morning but very chilly! Brrrr! Same as yesterday and we can expect a few more chilly and, perhaps frosty, mornings to follow. " Bobn'e cast a clout......"
I attended the funeral of a lovely local gentleman, Alan Spencer, who, for years, ran the taxi company. The boys, Gary and Ian, now run teh garage selling tyres. The service was at Ellers Chapel and it was lovely. Rest In Peace ALAN SPENCER.
I chaired an AGM last evening. It proved to be quite straightforward without and unforeseen complication. Everyone seemed to be quite content, which was good to see.
I was home in time to watch a short documentary of the dreadful fire in Los Angeles. So dreadful. Sixteen thousand homes destroyed, and with it everyone's personal goods, photos, documents, Awful.
Afterward it was University Challenge. I got THREE!
I saw the news of the container ship that crashed into the tanker , which was stationary, at anchor) and the huge fire. that resulted. All but one crew member were rescued. Pollution is the danger now. And there will be an enquiry to follow of course.

Home then to watch the rugby, made myself a rather super teak and Kidney pie and had a "quiet night in"..
Sunday dawner bright and sunny. Forgeolus. Had asome scrummy poached eggs for breakfast and spend an hour or so on the Poop Deck soakking up the lovely sunshine. Cleaned the Mercedes, a lovely car ) and then once got the Trike out and went for a ride. Down to Pritory Point and then along the freshly laid path skirting teh slag bank, to GLAXO roundabout, then via NL Rd home again. A lovely circuit which I will do many times more, I hope. The trike performed splendidly. Caught some more rays on the Pool Deck adn then watched England beat Italy! Washed and polished and met some lovely friends for Cocktails@5. The chatter was incessant and is seemed just like old times.. Home then to catch Tony Backbjurn's Golden Hour. followed by Paul Gambocini. A lovely hot and luxurious bath and off to bo bo's! What a lovely weekend! Tickety Boo!!!

8th Mar 2025Saturday 8th March
A gorgeous, beautifully sunny morning in Ulverston. Such a contrast from yesterday. Lots of spring flowers are blossoming now, which helps to put a smile on everyone's faces. So that is certainly nice!
I went out last evening and met my friend in teh Big Kings for one, then moved onto the Hope as we knew that there was live music there. It was a good group and I enjoyed the show.
Back to the weather, it is forecast that the weekend will be " mostly sunny". Good news!
Sme of the members of the Kings Head Bowling Club are assembling this afternoon to smarten up the green in readiness for the bowling season. The green i looking so good as a consequence of a couple of dedicated members.
I hope you all have a good weekend!
