A lovely dry and sunny morning here in Ulverston. It's distinctly cooler though, and there is a bit of a breeze.
THe foremr COHEN'S, formerly HEWITT's at the top of the Market Place is to be occupied by WESTMORLAND HOMECARE. They are expecting to create 50 jobs too! Great news that this impressive shop has been standing empty for a while now adn it will be lovely to see it being restored to it's former glory..

MONDAY th September 2026
A pleasant, dry, morning here in Ulaberston. Some sunshine breaking through later, perhaps.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I vertainly did. I only woreked till midday on Saturday, watachedsome excellent raing on tv. ( One of my 2 seections triumphed so it was a "folding money" day!). I stayed in for the evening an d made myself a lovely, very tasty, tea.
Up relatibvely early on Sunday as it was Bowling Merit Sunday held at the Kings Head Bowling Green. All the top players in teh League showed up for an ealy start of 10am. Sandwiches, tea ac coffee were provided by teh club for the visitors. An excellent day with the prize going to Paul Swift. I broke away for lunch with Clare, Martin, Josh, Marissa adn baby Rory. A lovely lunch.
Mt Farage is at the centre of a "spot of bother". But I suggest that he will come out of it smiling! There has been much critisism but they should remember the old saying " Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones".

SATURDAY 5th SEPTEMBER 2026
A damp and windy morning here in Ulverston. It is expected to brighten up later.
Iam still trying to solve a problem with my website host. Yted seberal time to make contact via phone, and all I get is "your call is important to us, please choose from the following options, Press 1 for......" It still does not get me through to a humanthough!
I heard that 2 tankers containing Guinness have neen stolen! Expensive stuff?
And have you heard that some of teh offshore drilling staff are "too heavy" and must lose weight or lose their jobs.
I was out in Ulverston last evening. There were lots of folk out enjoying themselves despite the "iffy" weather.
Next Saturday is teh Ulverston Charter Festival and , amongst a good range of activities, I am hosting teh Pet Dog Show at 2pm in the Market Place. The Mayor is the Judge and I do the MC stuff. Great fun. Free to enter your dog and EVERY entry receives a prize. A really nice day out in Ulverston.
The following Saturday it is teh wonderful LANTERN PROCESSION. Have you made your lantern yet? Kits are available at various shops around teh town, including CUMBRIA WAY in Upper Brook Street for £6.
