TUESDAY 25th February
Whata difference a day makes! Yesterday snow on the ground, and today glorious bright sunshine and clear blue skies!
You might be relieved to know that the schools are open! All that fuss over a bit of snow cover. How about all the families who live within a few minutes walk of the schools? The working parents would all have had a problem as to what arrangemetns for their children to be looked after. By 10 o'clcok it had all disappeared anyway. What's your view?
The Evening Mail must be struggling for news in the district when they have a complaint to McDonalds about a short measure of chips as a Headline Article. A "slow news day" if ever there was one?
Preparations are under way to celebrate VE Day in Ulverston on May 8th. What do you think should be included? ANy suggestions please let me know and I will pass them onto the Council

Monday 24th February
We woke up to a snow covered Ulverston! It's all gone now as the rain has come along and washed it all away. But many of the schools are closed! Can you just imagine the trouble this causes to the working parents of the children? Really there was only and inch or so of snow. Can such a meagre amount justify school closures? The world has to stop? Drive with due care and surely folk can get around. A bit extra time to drive from one place or another is all it takes. The boys with the Chelsea Tractors will be in their element!
I had a lovely weekend. Worked Saturday morning then watched some of the rugby in the afternoon before getting "suited and booted" and joined a lovely group of friends at the BAY HORSE HOTEL for our annual banquet. The setting was magical, the food absolutely excellent and the service superb! My congratulations go to Lesley and Bobby mine host and hostess! WE left at around 11 adn I ended up in the Piel Castle joining David and Helen and enjoying the music provided by my son in law, Martin Flower.
I had a long lie-in on Sunday morning before Helen gave me a lift back to the Bay Horse to retrieve my car. A gloriously sunny day and the bay looked wonderful.
I met up with friends for Cocktails at 5 in the Farmers. Always a lovely conclusion to the week.
"Last Tango in Halifax" is back on tv and it is as brilliant as ever!
