Property details :
“Magicland” Millwood. Barrow in Furness. LA14 4PY.
Here is your chance to buy a piece of Magic!
“Magicland” is a paddock of approximately 3.5 acres and includes a seasonal Tarn and some well-constructed timber buildings. "Magicland" is quite beautiful, and is so very private, being located in a sheltered valley secluded within Millwood, an area of remarkable beauty steeped in history on the Cistercian way between Furness Abbey and Dalton Castle.
With Poaka Beck to the South and Goldmire Beck to the West, the tranquil seasonal pond attracts ducks, heron, cormorant, mute swan and other waterfowl. Mature hedges of willow, mature and ancient woodland as well as many planted and self-seeded saplings and young native broadleaf trees provide excellent wildlife habitat, particularly for birds – our favourites are nuthatches, woodpeckers, and wrens. Mice, moles, voles and shrews are abundant enough to attract kestrel, owls and buzzards. Spring brings abundant wildflowers such as wood anemone, primrose, bluebell, celandine and ramson, while the air buzzes with bees and wasps, butterflies and moths, ladybirds and dragonflies. The healthy topsoil is well populated with worms as well as centipedes and the like. The barn and two sheds provide storage and workspace for forestry and woodcraft projects using sustainably coppiced willow, ash, hazel and sweet chestnut, with senescent oak, ash and sycamore providing useful timber and firewood.
Magicland is an irregularly shaped 3.5 acre property, immediately adjacent to land and lines owned by Network Rail to the North and East, Goldmire Beck to the West, and to the South by a shared access track adjacent to Poaka Beck, and plots belonging to other owners. Permitted use includes agricultural, horticultural, and silvicultural purposes and the grazing of animals. Access is via a 12’ agricultural track.
"Magicland" is totally entrancing. Tickety Boo!
